ABOUT THE TRI-CITIES
ABOUT THE AREA
Comprised of Kingsport, Johnson City, the Bristol Twin-Cities, and their surrounding areas, the Tri-Cities in Northeast Tennessee is both a charming area with a small-town feel and a hub of family-friendly activity. With a combined population of nearly a half a million people, there certainly is something for everyone within a short distance.
Quality Education Opportunities
The Tri-Cities is home to East Tennessee State University, Northeast State Community College and numerous other institutions of higher education. The Kingsport Higher Education Center supports five area colleges, including the University of Tennessee, in one convenient location in downtown Kingsport. The area also supports quality education opportunities for elementary and high school students including Tri-Cities Christian Schools, Kingsport Schools and Washington County School District.
Family-Friendly Activities
Residents can visit NASCAR's fastest short track at Bristol Motor Speedway or join one of the many civic clubs in the area. An annual Appalachian Fair features local and national music and family fun in a true country fair-style environment. Those itching for outdoor activities can look no further than the numerous area lakes for fishing and water sports. And the area is a mecca for hunting opportunities-turkey, deer, quail and water fowl.
A Great Place to Live
The Tri-Cities area earned the All-American City Award from the National Civic League in 1999, and the area maintains its small-town feel even as it grows. Residents can get their "big-city" fix in Knoxville, less than two hours southwest.
